“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” — Confucius

Tigers (and perhaps lions etc) have antiseptic saliva. A tiger’s tongue is covered with many small, sharp, rear-facing projections called papillae. These papillae give the tongue a rough, rasping texture. It strips the skin, feathers, fur and meat right off its prey.

A tiger's forefeet have five toes and the back feet four. All toes have sickle shaped claws. The claws are retracted during walking and extended during attack. A tiger's paw prints are called pug marks. These are unique like human finger prints.
Tigers are the only big cats within the big cat family to have stripes on their fur. That is another way of how they are distinguished from other tigers. Leopards, Cheetahs and jaguars have spots while lions and pumas have plain fur..

A recent discovery shows that an Albatross gave birth to her 30th offspring. The Mother is 70 years old. In 1956 she was fitted with an identification tag and has been regularly observed. A million albatross make an annual migration to breed in Midway Atoll in North-Pacific.
Fully grown, they can weigh up to 12 kg with a wing span of 3.5 m. Their gliding ability compares to the vulture.
